Art, bikes and my future.

June 9, 2008

I’m really bad at this blog thing. I have had several rides on the bike and the bus and the combination of the two but the writing part has been lame. As of today I’m not sure what the frequency of bus riding will be to work since I’m not sure I will be working for much longer at the Arvada. All of the exhibitions are up, “Spokes”, ironically the summer show about bicycles and art will be my last exhibition with Arvada. I made a sign out of old bike parts, including a spinning 20″ front wheel.

The show had such potential to be an interesting exhibition of artists making contemporary art about bikes. It ended up with three interesting works that feel entirely out of place amongst the much more conservative 2-D works and sculptural adaptations of bikes.

As for my own work I have not received a two month overdue contract from DIA (Denver International Airport) for the public art project I was expecting to finish by the Democratic National Convention here in Denver. If anyone has any hints on how to deal with this type of aggravation, please don’t keep it secret.

So for my future work this summer I am open to suggestions. I am considering all options at this point. It would be nice to get a high paying job being a bike messenger in Boulder, but I have yet to see any openings for it.
